Exodus Dance Company Frequently Asked Questions

What is Exodus Dance Company?

• EDC is a Christian dance ministry for dancers 12 years old and up.  EDC does not have an age limit and older dances are welcome.  We use dance to glorify God.  We perform at local churches, schools, hospitals and other venues and events.
• Our ministry in non-denominational.  We have had dancers from 11 different churches.

Who can participate in Exodus Dance Company?

• To participate you must apply to be a company trainee and complete the accompanying release and commitment forms.  Once you have completed these the Artistic Director will contact you regarding the company.
• Participants must be at least 12 years old.  EDC does not have an age limit.  Older dancers are welcome.

What does Exodus Dance Company do at rehearsals and performances?

• EDC uses ballet, modern and lyrical jazz to create dances that glorify God and share biblical truths.
• EDC members will study dance technique in rehearsals.
• EDC attempts to use and highlight the skills of the company members in choreography.

How much experience do I need to participate in Exodus Dance Company?

• One year of ballet technique is highly recommended.
• EDC attempts to use and highlight the skills of the members in the company.

Why do I have to apply to be a trainee before being accepted into Exodus Dance Company?

• The trainee program is a way for the Artistic Director to see what skills and abilities the potential company members have.
• The trainee program is a way for the Artistic Director to see how the potential company members work with each other and their ability to learn choreography.

What is the time commitment for Exodus Dance Company?

• The company will meet for weekly Sunday rehearsals for 2-4 hours during the school year and weekday rehearsals during the summer.
• It is our goal to perform at least twelve times a year.  To include time for prayer and preparation the time commitment for performances is about 3 hours. 
• Occasionally, additional rehearsals are necessary- there will not be additional charges for these supplemental rehearsals.

When does the company perform?

• EDC performs as performances are booked.  In the past we have performed roughly every month.
• EDC performs locally and sometimes travels.
• We strive to schedule the performances based on dancer availability.

Is there a charge to participate in Exodus Dance Company?

• Yes, there are fees associated with Exodus Dance Company:
  1. $25.00 monthly participation fee (payable in cash only)
  2. Leotards, pink tights, pink ballet slippers, earrings and a company shirt.  Most of these items will be purchased at Fancy Dancers and in stock items are 10% off for company dancers.
  3. Expenses associated with traveling to and from rehearsals, practices and performances are the responsibilities of the company member.
• We hope that the financial commitment associated with Exodus Dance Company is not a burden to our members or their families.  We strive to reduce expenses and make fundraising opportunities available.

Is Exodus Dance Company a part of Dancer’s Workshop, Fancy Dancers or Your Time Fitness?

• No, Exodus Dance Company is a separate entity from the above businesses.
• Dancer’s Workshop is the location where EDC currently holds practices and rehearsals.
• Fancy Dancer’s orders our leotards, tights and shoes and graciously provides us with a 10% discount for in-stock items.
• The above businesses have very graciously and generously supported EDC by allowing us to use their facilities.
